AFBC BOSS LANDS IN THE US
▫️ Plans underway to identify young African boxers to train in the United States

African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) President Eyassu Berhanu (pictured) has landed in Maryland, in the United States, to discuss a training program for African boxers in the US.

Berhanu arrived in Maryland on Tuesday night after presiding over the semi-finals and finals of the African Games boxing tournament in Accra, Ghana.

“I’m in discussion with boxing agents here to bring young African boxers to train in Maryland with an intention of joining the paid ranks because IBA has now embraced pro boxing,” said Berhanu.

“All their expenses will be catered for while in the US. The boxers who impress the agents can then turn professional and at the same time represent their countries when the need arises.”

Meanwhile, one of the two AFBC Vice-Presidents, Gen Ferdinand Ilunga Luyoyo, is expected to arrive in Addis Ababa today (March 27) to finalise the completion of AFBC’s new headquarters office and meet representatives of Ethiopian Airlines to discuss a sponsorship deal with the African body.

Ethiopian Airlines is understood to be keen on teaming up with AFBC to support boxing in Africa.
