Weight War: Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney Lock Horns Over 165-Pound Size Edge

The long-awaited fight between Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Devin Haney might finally be happening, but a major argument over weight is already holding it up.

The two boxing stars went back and forth on X (formerly Twitter) after Davis leaked that their teams are talking. However, Davis made it clear that he will not fight Haney unless there are strict rules about how much weight Haney can gain before entering the ring.

Davis mocked Haney’s size, posting online:”Nigga wanna come in 165..you not in the driver seat… If you wanna get the biggest purse of ya career you do as I SAY…”

Davis is talking about Haney’s past fight against Regis Prograis. Haney weighed in at the 140-pound limit on Friday, but by fight night, he had ballooned up to a massive 165 pounds.

Because Davis is the smaller fighter, he wants a rehydration clause in the contract. This rule stops a fighter from gaining too much weight after the official weigh-in.

Haney confirmed that Davis’s team reached out to start negotiations, but he is refusing to back down. Responding to fans, Haney stated he would “never” sign a contract with rehydration limits again, as it can harm his health and performance.

Davis is the bigger ticket seller, so he wants to dictate the rules. But with Haney refusing to give up his size advantage, fans will have to wait and see who blinks first.
