Joseph Commey reveals why Samuel Takyi is afraid to fight him

… Michael Abban hails Theophilus Allotey as face of Ghana Boxing

Joseph Commey aka Jaguar has disclosed that he punished and stopped Samuel Takyi in a training session in Italy while they were in the national team, Black Bombers camp preparing for international assignment, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

According to the 2022 Commonwealth Games Silver medalist, he put fear in Takyi with the devastating punches he received at that time, so since then he does not want to stand toe to toe with him.

“I taught him some lessons, and I am prepared to teach him more, also I pity an Olympic medalist fighting old men, very sad. If Takyi feels he is a man, I want him in the ring for the biggest professional boxing showdown in Ghana” he told Yours Truly in an exclusive interview on Omashi TV.

Jaguar said he even wants Takyi one on one on TV so that they both tell their fans and boxing people what they can do.

Samuel Takyi represented Ghana and won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, but Commey said he respects the achievement for Ghana but not the personality.

“I also went for the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, but in our time it was difficult, as only one boxer would qualify to represent the whole African continent, unlike previous when more than one boxer qualified, however I am content with my silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, I could have won gold if I was advised well, because at the Glasgow Games we fought after one resting day, but the final was fixed immediately after the semi-finals and I was indisposed due to many factors on the finals day, so I settled for silver without entering the ring for the last bout”

Now at the professional level Commey feels he has the record of winning the UBO Africa title in his first fight and also claimed the national lightweight title.

“Takyi has no title so he has nothing to show as a professional boxer, I am far ahead and in case there is a challenge I deserve more money than him, he also insulted my coach sometime ago and he will suffer for it” he expressed.

Joseph Commey 5-0, one of the most skilful boxers disclosed that his first professional fight against Richmond Ashley was tough and he is never interested in fixed fights or fighting weak old opponents to make a record.

Come August 2026 he is fighting an undefeated Nigerian with 12 victories.

On the Omashi TV programme was Michael Abban aka ‘Black Spider’ who holds three titles, two Commonwealth silver and the WBA Pan African Super Flyweight title.

They both train at the Black Panthers Boxing Gym under Coach Ebenezer Adjei aka ‘Killer’.

Abban showered praises on Theophilus Allotey of Wisdom Boxing Gym as the face of Ghana Boxing and noted that once Lopez is in the lead in Ghana, he should be supported and others will follow.

“I am rated number one contender after Allotey in our weight class, so as he is now holding fight titles and getting closer to the main world titles I believe we should all support Allotey and when his glory comes we all enjoy, and then we  also go for ours” he said.

Abban hinted that Black Panthers Boxing Gym boxers are very disciplined and show respect, which makes them attractive and fans favourites.

He is also listed on the August bill to be hosted by Box Office Promotions and RBS Promotions against a SouthAfrican for an eliminator as he also defends his titles. .

Meanwhile, Yours Truly has made efforts to bring Samuel Takyi on the show but he gave an excuse of travelling, so as soon as returns he will be on ‘The Big Fight Night’ for fans to hear his side
