Meet 11 Year Old Samuel Plange With 15 Fights to His Credit

Here in Ghana, the boxing atmosphere is super charged. The introduction of the Professional Boxing League and the 2022 National Individual Championship has sparked a great interest in the sport and everyone is catching the fever!

 

Clubs have intensified their training and the National Team have kept their non- residential training ongoing. Ohh yes! The juveniles are not left out as on daily basis clubs are receiving new sign ups.

The average early age boxers get into boxing in Ghana is 6 years old. In most cases their boxers do not engage in contact training until they are about 10 years old. Others begin early.

 

Samuel Plange is one of such youngsters. At 11 years old, the Juvenile has fought in the ring 15 times.

 

 

Samuel was signed up to learn boxing 4 years ago by his father, Mr Isaac Plange. Samuel believes that boxing will help him travel places and change his fortunes.

 

In his own words “I want to take my boxing to many places; Nigeria, America and Dubai.“

 

 

Samuel begun learning boxing at SeaView Boxing Gym. He currently trains at the newly formed Jamestown Boxing Club.

 

 

Speaking about Samuel, Coach Randy, Head Coach of Jamestown Boxing Club said

“Samuel is a special kid and we believe his future is bright. Several people have seen him in action and can see he is special. We have partners in Germany who we are speaking to to help him.

 

 

Samuel is a student of Prince De Henry Educational Complex. He’s under a receipt of a scholarship funded by Mr. Achiwald Née Amartei Armah, benefactor of the Boxing club.

 

Samuel said his role models are amateur boxer Joseph Commey and Professional boxer John Commey.
