Michael Decardi Nelson, popularly known as ‘Mayweather’ thinks he won the fight against Jerry Klutei Robertson which was the best bout on the Osagyefo Fight Night bill. The entertaining and action packed fight was declared a draw.
Speaking to Yours Truly on The Big Fight Night on Omashi TV, the super bantamweight star said Jerry head butted him and blood was oozing, but he fought like a wounded lion and deserve the result.
Certainly, he is not perturbed, but ever ready for a rematch if possible in December this year.
“I call on any promoter to fix the rematch and I will deliver again, boxing is my job and that fight on Osagyefo Fight Night made my fans return because it has been a while since many people saw me box in Ghana” he said.
Nelson (9 -2-2) urged promoters to schedule their programmes well because when they put the best bouts at the end many people miss as they leave the fight venue or arena by 12 midnight.
“I was very sad Sharaf Mahama, Ivan Bruce Cudjoe and other dignitaries could not see our fight which was the main undercard due to lateness, they will know that there are better boxers in Ghana” he expressed.
The last time he fought in Accra was in 2024 and he was on the bill when the Bukom Boxing Arena was inaugurated by President John Mahama.
Nelson who trains under Elvis Robertson at Akotoku Academy in Accra thanked all his fans and admirers who supported him on the Osagyefo Fight Night.
He was a delight to watch with his astonishing style and spectacular technique plus precise footwork that confused his opponent often in the rounds. It is therefore not by mistake that the fans call him ‘Mayweather’.
