“Best Of Bukom” Event Set For August 23 At The Bukom Boxing Arena


Dave Bishop, a protuberant figure in the entertainment industry, who now goes by his stool name: Nana Ekow Amu I; Development Chief of Nyanfeku Ekroful in the Central Region of Ghana, is about to make a grand entry into boxing promotion in Ghana.

Officially a Ghanaian citizen since last year, the multifaceted entrepreneur and philanthropist is set to break new grounds with his impending card dubbed “Best Of Bukom” on August 23rd at the iconic Bukom Boxing Arena.

The bill is a star-studded convergence which features Commonwealth Games Silver medalist and African Games Gold medalist Joseph Commey. Nicknamed “Jaguar”, Commey is the current UBO Africa Lightweight champion.

Also on the bill : Sampson Segbedzi (National, UBO Africa and PST Welterweight champion), Cruiserweight Clinton Nana Adjei, former National champion Isaac Aryee, Victor Kuwornu and Isaac Commey.

One of the bouts to watch out for come fight night would be the super lightweight clash between the “hard as nails” Sunday Adeleye and the ever dangerous Bernard “Kenya” Abbey.

New heavyweight sensation Joseph Antwi would also be looking make a huge statement on the night.

Following his enstoolment last year, Dave Bishop promised to put up even more initiatives that would positively impact the youth and community at large, and what a way to do it than a resounding boxing event in the heart of the capital; Bukom – a place that has produced ten out of Ghana’s eleven world boxing champions: from David Kotei Poison in 1974, Azumah Nelson in 1984, Ike “Bazooka” Quartey in 1994 to recently Abigail Quartey in 2024 (Abigail won the WIBF Featherweight title defeating Sangeeta Birdi).

“It’s like a dream come true, and we’re ready to make it happen”, the CEO of Detroit Choice Awards exclaimed in exhilaration.
