IBA Men’s World Championships quarter-finalist Robert Okaka inspires youth at King Abaka Boxing Foundation

Kenya’s first ever boxer to qualify for World Championships quarter-finals in 43 years, Robert Okaka aka Man Man Ngori, was in his true element today when he visited aspiring junior boxers at the King Abaka Foundation in Korogocho slums.

His motivational chat with the youngsters was warmly received, encouraging them they too can rise to the top with discipline, commitment and dedication, urging them to take their education seriously.

Okaka made history at the 2025 IBA Men’s World Championships in Dubai, becoming the first Kenyan in 43 years to make it to the quarters since 1982 when Ibrahim “Surf” Bilali and Hussein “Juba” Khalili punched their way to the quarters in Men’s Worlds in Munich, Germany.

CEO Nick Abaka, a gold medallist at the 2005 Zone 5 Championships, could not have summed it better.

“Today was truly a great privilege for us at the King Abaka Boxing Foundation. We were honored to receive a special visit from our current Light Heavyweight National Champion, Robert Okaka, who conducted an inspiring training session and shared powerful words of wisdom with our young champions,” said Abaka.

He went on: “We also sincerely extend our heartfelt appreciation to Henry Dotterer #Rayskidz, David Lokopien #CODEYETU, and Richard for taking the time to visit and support our foundation.

“Your presence, encouragement, and commitment to empowering young people mean so much to us.
The future is bright!
Let us continue to pray for prosperity and even greater success in the years to come.

“We remain committed to being a centre of excellence for Emerging Young African Boxing Talent.”
