CHINYEMBA ROBBED IN MOROCCO
▪️ Hosts Morocco win all gold medals in Africa Military Boxing Championships
Zambia’s reigning African Games flyweight champion Patrick “Baddo” Chinyemba clearly beat Morocco’s Chadgour Othman but was surprised too see the hand of his opponent raised as the winner in the just-concluded Africa Military Boxing Championships in Rabat, Morocco.
A reliable source at the tournament told boxersworld.co.ke the officiating in most of the bouts was skewed in favour of the Moroccan soldiers.
“It was just a circus. Chinyemba completely outclassed his opponent who was just slapping him but he was never warned,” he said.
“The Moroccans won all the gold medals. Wonders of wonders. We still have a long way to go in Africa.”
A disappointed Chinyemba is understood to have refused to parade for his silver medal on the podium, and instead he was handed his medal in the dressing room.
Zambia’s six-man team returned home with two silvers and one bronze medal.
Light-flyweight Nene Mahonga won the first silver losing to Moroccan Bensayar Issam while bantamweight Albert Ngulube settled for bronze after losing to Morocco’s Essamai Reda.
