Last Saturday, Canelo Álvarez and Terrence Crawford squared off in a once in a lifetime event in Las Vegas.

The result was a unanimous decision in favour of Terrence Crawford, making him the first male to become an undisputed champion in three weight divisions.

The 38 year old, outboxed Canelo over 12 rounds as the ‘smaller’ man, weighing 168 pounds up from his usual 154 pounds.

In the buildup to the matchup, pundits, fans, and fighters had differing predictions.

A fraction of people believed Canelo would seal the deal and that Crawford would be too small for him.

The other side went with Crawford based on his elusiveness and skills, which made him undefeated in 41 fights.

All the same, the result further etches Terrence Crawford’s name in the history books as one of the greatest fighters of our generation.

Now, with 42 fights undefeated and a 3-time undisputed champion, only time will tell what the future will look like for Crawford.

Already, there have been talks about his retirement since there is not much more left he can do to surpass his current achievements.

For Canelo, a few exciting matchups lurk in his future.

A fight against Benavidez will be one to watch. A Bivol rematch will also be a way for Canelo to get one back against the Russian boxer.

All in all, Canelo’s legacy still holds strong. However, last night was for Crawford.

In the co-main event, Callum Walsh defeated Fernando Vargas Jr by a unanimous decision over 10 rounds.

Christian Mbili and Lester Martinez fought to a split draw in a super middleweight bout.

While Trent Kent Crawford lost to Mohammed Alakel, which led to his early retirement from boxing at the young age of 22.
