
Matchroom Hosts First African Card in Accra- Ghana on December 20, 2025
British light heavyweights Craig Richards and Dan Azeez are set to fight in Matchroom’s maiden event in Ghana on December 20.
Matchroom Boxing will venture into Africa for the first time, with Ghana hosting this significant event.
The event, in collaboration between Legacy Rise Sports and DAZN, will feature international names, local talent, and multiple titles at stake.
The event will take place at the Legon Sports Stadium in Accra, with full bout details to be released soon.
Richards (19-4) and Azeez (22-2-1) will each be looking to earn a spot in the world title picture with a win in this.
Six boxers from Ghana will compete and will look to excel at the event.
The IBF International Super welterweight title fight will feature Ghana’s Sampson Segbedzi (10-0) against the also undefeated Ibrahima Diallo (12-0-2). Segbedzi is aiming to maintain his undefeated record and reach for higher glory with his second appearance in the ring this year.
Theophilus ‘Lopez’ Allotey (12-0) aims to maintain his momentum with 5 victories this year as he faces off against Filipino fighter Jayr ‘The Dreamer’ Raquinel (18-2-1) for the WBO Global Super flyweight championship.
It will be an all-Ghanaian fight between Holy ‘Jawbreaker’ Dorgbertor (14-1) and John ‘Expensive boxer’ Laryea (15-0-1) for the IBF Africa featherweight belt. Dorgbertor will seek redemption after his first professional loss, while Laryea will look to reach 16 wins without a loss.
Ghana’s Cruiserweight champion, Ahmed Abdula (9-0 7 KOs) will battle Nigerian heavy-hitter Obaro Eradajaye (20-2 19 KOs) to win the WBA Africa Cruiserweight title.
In addition, the card will feature British Ghanaian boxer Sedem Ama (4-0) taking on Chiamaka Nwaturuocha (3-0) in a welterweight bout.
