Jonathan Tetteh aka ‘Worldwide’ overwhelmed Freezy Macbones aka Seth Gyimah last Saturday in their super clash at the UG Legon Sport Stadium in the ‘The Showdown’ presented by Sharaf Mahama’s Legacy Rise Sports Promotions and Matchroom Boxing.

All the judges scored for Tetteh to get a unanimous decision that went beyond boxing and sports, to tribal, culture, language and others to grab the WBA Africa light heavyweight championship.

Freezy had some of his points deducted after he tried to chew the shoulder of Tetteh during the fight.

Ghana got a new WBO Global Super Flyweight Champion in the person of Theophilus “Lopez” Allotey who gave some boxing tutorials to his much experienced opponent against Jayr Raquinel from the Philippines.

Expensive Boxer, John Abaja Laryea from the Bronx Gym also dethroned Holy ‘The jawnbreaker’ Dorgbetor for the IBF Continental Africa featherweight title by a round 8 TKO after the ringside doctor ruled Dorgbetor was too hurt to continue,

Jerry Lartey of the Ghana Armed Forces who controlled the action, weathered a late knockdown, bounced back with confidence, and secured the win over Jesse Brandon. He’s still undefeated and the new WBA Africa super lightweight champion.

In the exciting female boxing action, UK based Voltarian Sedem Ama triumphed over her Nigerian opponent Chiamaka Nwaturuocha.

Ashaiman based Sampson Segbedzi was shocked by Ibrahim Diallo for the IBF International Junior Middleweight title.

Sampson Segbedzi, a Ghanaian boxer, was looking to claim the vacant title, while Ibrahima Diallo, from Belgium, aimed to add another victory to his new 13-0-2 record. Segbedzi is now, with a 11-1-0 record.

The Showdown will go into the boxing history books as one of the best and well organized boxing bouts in Ghana.

In the main bout Dan Azaaz lost to Craig Richards in an international all British light heavyweight contest.

Ace musician Shatta Wale and others entertained the fans and guests after the boxing show.
