Wisdom Boxing Club finalist at the men’s 60kg (Lightweight) category, James Okoe aka ‘Wonder Tiger has promised to overturn the Bukom Boxing Arena at the final of the GBF National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship fixed for end of February.
Speaking on ‘The Big Fight Night’ programme hosted by Yours Truly on Omashi TV last Friday, he expressed that this is his time to shine because he had not attracted the attention of the media and Federation, so had been sidelined for a long time.
“I have been overlooked several times, but j think this is my chance and I pray to deliver, my opponent is tough but I will conquer, I am the great tiger and I will roar on the day, with the great Coach Dr. Asare behind me, I don’t fear, i will surprise everyone ” he said.
Okoe who went to Ebenezer SHS faces a tough task in Black Rockets rising star, Ebenezer Ankrah of Black Panthers Gym who also loves to be called ‘Massive Champion’.
Ankrah, a business student of Labone SHS has represented Ghana at the International Boxing Association (IBA) competition in Montenegro and he welcomes the challenge.
“As the best you have to face those who also feel they are best and then we see the real champion” he replied.
Ankrah stated that with Coach Killer behind him, he is ready to devour the tiger.
Both boxers have been penned for the next Black Bombers team which would be preparing for the Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers in Bangkok, Thailand and the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
