THE BATTLE OF TORKOR ATORLIA SUPREME WABA’S WORLD TITLES GIFT TO GHANA

WHEN Mitch Gilbert Wooollams, the CEO of Aborigine Boxing Promotion from Ghana, conceived the brilliant idea of honoring Africa’s finest son, Prof Azumah Nelson, he sought a collaborator to help turn this vision into reality.

Woollams, a prominent business figure in Ghana who owns and operates the Aborigine Beach Resort Club in Keta, found an ally in Hon Ky Col Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi, the President of WABA, who embraced the concept.

Together, these two African visionaries—one from Western Africa (Mitch Gilbert Wooollams) and the other from Eastern Africa (Hon Ky Col Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi)—presented the idea to the two-time former world champion, Prof Samuel Azumah Nelson, who enthusiastically accepted the MEGA initiative.

The trio of distinguished Africans nurtured the concept and brought it to fruition as TORKOR ATORLIA – Supreme Prof Azumah Nelson Champion Emeritus Super Featherweight World Championship, featuring Ghana’s battle-hardened duo, Michael Poppoe and Michael Ansah.

To enhance the MEGA showdown, two additional titles were introduced, including a match between Ghana’s Abubak Mubarak and Beninese fighter Justin Hounkpevi for the vacant WABA Supreme World Super Middleweight Championship, representing the Anglophone vs. Francophone DUEL.

Two of Ghana’s greatest boxing stars, Saviour Gad and Eliasu Sulley, will vie for the vacant WABA Supreme Global Super Middleweight Championship, where the victor will claim all.

The objective is to establish the Prof Azumah Nelson Champion Emeritus Championship as an annual event in Ghana, which will subsequently travel globally to nurture and develop boxing talent and skills akin to the legendary Prof Azumah Nelson.

The MEGA Showdown is scheduled to occur in Keta at the Aborigine Beach Resort Club, drawing the entire boxing community to Keta in droves.

Reservations for accommodations near the event venue are being made in significant numbers, indicating a strong interest from fans.
