Ghana observes Easter with the presentation of three WABA Supreme Championship belts.

GHANA CELEBRATES EASTER WITH THREE WABA SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP BELTS AT STAKE

On Easter Sunday, GHANA will embrace a festive atmosphere as three world-rated WABA Supreme Championship belts will be contested in the KETA region, specifically at the Aborigine Beach Resort Club, which is owned and managed by CEO Mitch Gilbert Wooollams, who also leads Aborigine Boxing Promotion.

The President of WABA, Hon Ky Col Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi, recognized in Ghana for his pivotal role in elevating Richard Commey from obscurity to contest for the IBF Africa Lightweight Championship, which ultimately led to Commey’s IBF World Championship, will be present alongside Mitch Gilbert Wooollams and Prof Azumah Nelson on April 4th.

During his tenure as the President of IBF in Africa, the Middle East, and the Persian Gulf, McBride also played a significant role in advancing boxers such as Nigerian Helen Joseph, who, under the management of Koffi Brackets from Ghana, fought and secured the IBF Intercontinental female Featherweight Championship.

President McBride further supported boxers like Frederick Lawson, enabling him to win both the IBF Continental Africa Welterweight Championship and the IBF International Welterweight Championship, which facilitated Lawson’s move to the USA to compete for the IBF World title.

Issah Samir and other young talents have benefited from President McBride’s efforts by winning the IBF World Youth Middleweight Championship and several others. Now, as the WABA President, he aims to see three Ghanaians claim three Supreme Championships on Easter Day.

This tournament is dedicated to honoring Africa’s finest, Prof Azumah Nelson, and is named the Prof Azumah Nelson Champion Emeritus Championship, featuring Michael Poppoe and Ezekiel Annan as the main event in the WABA Supreme World Super Featherweight Championship.

Savoy Gad and Eliasu Sulley will vie for the vacant WABA Global Super Middleweight Championship, while Ghanaian Abubak Mubarak and Beninese Justin Hounkpevi will compete for the vacant WABA Supreme World Super Middleweight Championship.

Professor Azumah Nelson, Promoter Mitch Gilbert Wooollams, and the President of WABA, Honorable Ky Col Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi, will be present at the ringside alongside other notable celebrities.
