George Dowuona targets gold at National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship

George Dowuona aka ‘Slow Poison’ has disclosed that his target is to win the gold or first position in his weight class at the 2026 National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship.

“I am from Osu but I love to play at Jamestown and that made me fall in love with boxing, and I like the sport” he expressed.

Speaking to Yours Truly in the exclusive interview on The Big Fight Night on Omashi TV, the Sacred Heart student who trains at the Will Power Boxing Gym said he is never swollen-headed because he is going to the final but wants to prove that he is the best.

The African Youth Boxing gold medalist said he is confident and gives much credit to his trainer, Coach Daniel Larbie also known as Nii Otokunor IV.

According to the coach Will Power entered only one boxer in the competition and he has reached the final.

He thanked his mentors like the late Napoleon Tagoe and Alloway who guided him to become a boxing trainer.

Coach Larbie hinted that he brought one boxer so that he can have more attention and concentration on him than many boxers.

He also commended the Ghana Boxing Federation under the leadership of Dauda Fuseni and Nii Gonti Adjor aka Nii Adama Addy for their vision and mission to take Ghana Amateur Boxing to a higher step.

George Dowuona will face Ibrahim Doku of Black Panthers at the final scheduled for the end of February at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

George Dowuona is a member of the Black Rockets and wants to become a Black Bomber.
