FORMER GHANA AND AFRICA CHAMPION,UMAR SANDA PASSES AWAY

Information available from relatives of former national and Africa middleweight champion Umar(Moro) Sanda indicates that the boxing coach cum promoter passed away on Tuesday 1Oth June,2025 in his hometown of Bolgatanga and buried on Wednesday 11th June 2025 according to Islamic traditions.

The 67 year old retiree of National Sports Authority(NSA) recently expressed his sadness regarding the fallen standard of boxing(amateur and professional) as well as its total neglect in the Nothern region.He stated that there is little hunger in our current young boxers of today compared to their heydays.

The GBA president, Abraham Kotei Neequaye, expressed his profound gratitude to the contributions made by the former national and Africa Middleweight champion to Ghana.

On behalf of the GBA executive board and Ghanians, especially members of the boxing fraternity,Kotei Neequaye expresses condolences to the bereaved family.
