Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois will go head-to-head in an all-British affair on March 9 in Manchester for the WBO heavyweight title.
Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) defeated Joseph Parker via an 11th-round knockout in a thrilling bout in October to claim the interim title. He was elevated to full champion a month later when Usyk relinquished the title.
With three consecutive knockout wins against formidable opponents like Frazer Clarke, Justis Huni, and Joseph Parker, Wardley has proven he isn’t afraid of tough competition.
Across the ring will be Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois (23-3, 21 KOs), seeking his second heavyweight championship. With two defeats against Usyk behind him, a bout with Wardley is his strongest chance to claim another title.
Dubois deserves some credit for stepping up against a tough heavyweight instead of taking an easier fight on a relatively quick turnaround.
The 28 year old was unsuccessful in his bid to become the undisputed champion in 2023, losing to Oleksandr Usyk. Following his decisive fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua in 2024, Dubois was granted a rematch against Usyk.
The rematch didn’t turn out in his favor, and he suffered yet another defeat against Usyk last year.
The Co-op Arena will come alive on March 9 when these two knockout artists face off for the heavyweight crown.
