Dillian Whyte in Talks to Face Lawrence Okolie as Headliner for December Nigerian Card.
Reports suggest that veteran heavyweight Dillian Whyte (31-4, 21 KOs) might compete against two-time world champion Lawrence Okolie (22-1, 16 KOs) in Nigeria on December 19th.
Following his recent defeat to Moses Itauma, Whyte will aim to rebound in a match against Okolie.
The event dubbed “Chaos in the Ring” card will be co-promoted by Amir Khan’s AK Promotions, Balmoral Group Promotions, and Queensberry.
“We’ve made an offer for Dillian Whyte to fight Okolie as we continue our momentum of bringing the best of the best to Africa as we continue our drive to build the next generation of superstars here,” CEO of AK Promotions, Amir Khan said.
Lawrence Okolie is expected to be on the card regardless, but if he fights Dillian Whyte, it will make the card much more exciting.
Whyte was prepared to face Derek Chisora in a trilogy this December, but after talks fell apart, the 35-fight veteran will seek competition elsewhere.
Having been sparring partners in the past, Whyte and Okolie’srelationship has since declined. In the last few years, there have been multiple rumours of a potential between them.
A victory in this fight could mean Whyte defeats another solid fighter, but Lawrence Okolie will attempt to place himself among the top heavyweights by winning against Whyte.
Also on the card are David Adeleye, Emmanuel Odiase, TaiwoAgbaje, Elvis Ahorgah and Shiloh Defreitas.
