Bukom dictates the pace in Ghana Boxing – Solomon Otoo Lartey
… “The GBA is hanging, we need a savior to take us to the promise land”
Solomon Otoo Lartey, self acclaimed President of Boxing Matchmakers in Bukom, Accra says the people of Ga Mashie are those who dictate the way boxing should be run in Ghana because they have the interest and participate most.
“We also have the best boxers and produced most of Ghana’s world champions” he said.
According to Mr. Lartey he was presented with awards in Senegal and London as best promoter and matchmaker from Ghana, there are young men who can become world champions.
He was on Omashi TV combat sports show, ‘The Big Fight Night’to campaign for Rabbon Dodoo to be voted as incoming President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).
Lartey said Rabbon Dodoo is the right man who can be trusted because he has the experience having boxed before and served on the GBA Board under Presidents Peter Zwennes and Abraham Neequaye.
He stated that Rabbon Dodoo understands the game because he is a veteran and will solve the welfare problem of boxers.
“Currently our boxing is hanging because there is no leader to take us to the promised land, Rabbon is the one” he said.
On his issue with Ghana’s one and only female world champion, Abigail Quartey, he decided not to comment much and leave her to find her future, but promised to help her find a new manager because her progress is what worries him.
He expressed that there are not many female professional boxers in Ghana so it is difficult to organise female bouts.
Meanwhile, Roger Barnor who is running for First Vice President and accompanied Lartey to the Omashi Studio backed Rabbon Dodoo and promised that on June 4, Ghana Boxing will be redeemed.
