WABA PRESIDENT ARRIVES AND IS WELCOMED BY HIS HOST IN GHANA
Honorable Ky Col Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi, the President of the World Alliance Boxing Association (WABA), has arrived at Accra International Airport in Ghana today for the inaugural Supreme Prof Azumah Nelson Champion Emeritus Championship. Gilbert Mitch Woollams was present to welcome the WABA President.
This marks the first visit of the President of Africa’s only world sanctioning body, WABA, and his trip will inaugurate the Supreme Prof Azumah Nelson Champion Emeritus Championship, which honors Africa’s finest, Prof Azumah Nelson, who has made significant contributions to the sport of boxing.
The delegation departed from Accra International Airport to Keta town, where the Battle of TORKOR ATORLIA will be held at the Aborigine Beach Resort Club, owned by Gilbert Mitch Woollams.
This visit is highly inspiring, led by the globally recognized boxing leader who had a friendship with Ghana’s former strongman, H. E. President Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings (deceased), who was the first Patron of WABA. The late President Rawlings is among WABA’s Posthumous Patrons.
Other Posthumous Patrons include the former President of Tanzania, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, the first democratically elected former South African President, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, and the former three-time world heavyweight champion, Muhammad Ali from the USA.
The Battle of TORKOR ATORLIA will feature three WABA Supreme World Championships: the Prof Azumah Nelson Champion Emeritus Super Featherweight, the Vacant WABA Supreme World Super Middleweight Championship, and the Vacant WABA Global Super Middleweight Championship.
The remarkable Michaels, Michael Poppoe and Michael Ansah, will compete for the inaugural WABA Supreme Prof Azumah Nelson Champion Emeritus Super Featherweight World title, while Ghana’s finest, Saviour Gad and Eliasu Sulley, will vie for the vacant WABA Supreme Global Super Middleweight Championship.
The competition will also showcase Ghanaian pound-for-pound fighter Abubak Mubarak against Beninese slugger Justin Hounkpevi, marking an exciting matchup.
