3 African boxers won their opening fights in Bangkok but Ghana’s Amadu Mohammed out

3 AFRICAN BOXERS MOVE ON

Three African boxers, Armando Sigauque of Mozambique, Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale and Morocco’s Yassine El Ouarz won their opening fights in Bangkok on Friday, May 24.

Results received so far by AFBC Communications show Sigauque (pictured left), the African Games featherweight silver medallist, outpointed Allan Oaike of Papua New Guinea 5-0, Mwale got a walkover against Fiji’s Davule Jone while African Games silver medallist Yassine stopped Austria’s Marcel Meinl in 1:42 of the third round in the light-middleweight class round of 128.

Three boxers, Uganda’s light-middleweight, Muzamiru Kakande, Mali’s featherweight Abdoul Bathily and Libya’s featherweight Alkam have kissed goodbye to the qualifiers.

Germany-based Ugandan pro Kakande (8-1-0, 5 KOs) was beaten 5-0 by Cuba’s Jorge Cuellar, Bathily lost 5-0 to Tajikistan’s Asror Vokhido and Alkam lost 5-0 to Iran’s Daniyai Shabakhsh.
